is crap. Certainly, many things we constantly judge people for are entirely unimportant - their looks, religion, sexual preference. That doesn't mean there is complete moral subjectivity. Labels are only a bad thing if they're inaccurate. And certainly the tendency is to generalize, simplify, and stereotype while labeling or judging - that is the sin - not the act of judging or labeling itself. I encourage you to judge away. It's the only way we can improve ourselves. I'm not a believer in hedonism or nihilism. There certainly is a right and a wrong, and I work hard to keep myself on the right. You can help me! But it is essential to remember not to be hasty in our judgments and our labeling. If we are unclear about something, we have the obligation to ask for clarification. We should not assume anything. If I haven't made a concerted, honest, and proficient attempt at understanding another person's perspective, situation, behavior, or beliefs, I certainly am in no position to judge them or to label them. But if I do have as clear an understanding as I am likely to get, and the subject can confirm I see it correctly, then and only then may I pass judgement, or make a label. So uuuh it's been a while and I don't really know what I'm doing so fucking feel free to ask me whatever and I'll answer honestly, or not, and you won't know, but that's not the point. First the two things I'm not allowed to talk about at the bar... 1) Ain't got no qualms with god You might not guess it based on my opinions about alcohol or weed or sex, but I'm a fairly religious guy. Big time theist, little time Catholic, somewhat time Taoist, barely time Buddhist. I love talking about it; I hate evangelizing so if you wanna talk about it for fun and personal enrichment that's awesome but if you want to convert me or me to convert you, as my good Australian friend Kelii would say, "bugger off". 2) Like it or not, politics is life I'm a radical. Not really a democrat or a republican. More of a green or a reform. Maybe you could call me a liberal socialist. I got lots of opinions, love to share them, same qualifications as number 1. So normal stuff. I love to be in nature, especially surfing (just learning) snowboarding (proficient beginner). I'm trying to buy a boat to live on for the next few years, instead of getting an apartment in this town. Dreaming of sailing to patagonia with a few of my HS buddies before we all get real jobs/go to graduate school. I love South Park, Dirty Jobs, ATHF, Scrubs, Deadliest Catch; ... lots of other stuff but I'm bored of this right now; hopefully I'll update it more in class today (around 3pm PST) Current Mood: okay Current Music: I'll Stick Around - Foo Fighters
